Yes, I wear contacts and I think it took me a couple of days to get used to putting them in and taking them out.

I don't wear contacts any more because there is something about my left eye that gets irritated with them when I wear them for any length of time anymore. However, I vividly remember when I first started wearing them.

I spent my entire youth trying to keep stuff OUT of my eyes, then I decided I wanted to wear contacts. The act of intentionally sticking something into my eye was something that didn't come naturally to me at all. It took a lot of practice.

Part of it was the way the eye doctor put them into my eyes in the first place. They placed them directly onto my cornea, absolutely the most sensitive part of the eye. It's d*mn near impossible for me to do this without blinking, which folds that soft lens up before it settles onto the cornea.

I couldn't leave the eye doctor's office until I could demonstrate that I could insert them properly (i.e. - not backwards) and take them out again. I was at the office for a couple hours doing that.

Every day for a few months I would get up at least an hour earlier than normal just so I could be sure to get my contacts in before school.

The technique I got used to was to clean and rinse the lens, then carefully position it just so on the tip of my middle finger of my right hand. Then I'd look into the mirror and use my forefingers to pull my eyelids apart while centering the lens in front of my eye. Then I'd roll my eye up as far as I could and place the lens on the white of my eye. After this I'd kinds roll my eye a little to get the lens to settle some, then slowly look down to slide it up over my cornea. Then I'd blink a little to be sure the lens was settled.

Taking them out I'd look up, pull the lower eyelid down with my index finger, and use the tip of my middle finger to slide the lens off my cornea and onto the white of my eye. Then I'd pinch the lens using the tip of the same forefinger holding my eyelid and my middle finger.

No SL I don't. I tried them many years ago and didn't have the patience. Also everyone I knew who had them had trouble with them. They had to have insurance because if they popped out and dropped good luck trying to find them intact. I wore glasses. Never had a problem with them. I figured if guys didn't like me enough to accept the glasses I didn't want to be with them in the first place! Happy Sunday! :)
