Are managers or supervisors in retail stores allowed to talk disrespectful to their employees?

I was at work and where I work we cashiers are suppose to greet and check customers bags when they walk in the store. However we also have to stock the store shelves and where the door is it can be difficult to see a person because the aisles block your view. I happen to not see one person and my supervisor comes to me and stares at me while I'm checking out a customer when I ask what it is they would like to say. The supervisor says "Oh your going to get something". Then when the customer leaves the supervisor says angrily "get over here" when I'm already in speaking distance from them I say I'm already over here then repeats "Get over here!" again this person doesn't say anything like this to any other employee and also saying "do I even care about my job". Are supervisors suppose to say "Get over here" in a condescending way to an employee when trying to talk to them? Can they get into trouble someway?

    Hello you:

What he said to you is RUDE - but NOT illegal or most likely, NOT against company policy or procedures...

It's not a good technique but what "stupidvisors" can get away with is company policy.

I've been fortunate to have graduate level education in organizational behavior and to have worked for and been trained by several pretty enlightened companies.

Most supervisors at the retail level don't have the disposition, background, or training to be in charge of people. They just work their way up the ranks.

Let it roll off you. And in the meantime, do a little research, maybe even attend a program or two. to develop an effective leadership style.

It's better to have recording for this type of situation for reporting it to their bosses bosses. Transcribe the recording and state in the begging that the recording will be available upon request and compensation for materials. More than 1 recording would be good to have too, with different employees. that way you can see if it a personal thing, and make him look bad that way too.
Did you explain to him why you were unable to, as he puts it, do your job?

No they almost certainly won't get in trouble. Upper management allows managers to manage their employees as they wish as long as they get results and don't break any laws.
