  • Yes anyone can, if they really want to be. But you are not compelled to worship god or to do any other things. That is the main difference from other religions. Hinduism is not a religion. It is a way of life. If your heart is pure then you can urself a hindu. We must accept that some super natural power is making us to work. That super natural power is called as god. If you think and worship that a tree is that supernatural power certainly it is so. So we can become a hindu by being pure.
  • You can become a Hindu if you believe in BhagavadGita and its ideals. So that makes it that you cannot convert yourself to a Hindu. Lord Krishna says follow your own religion as it is you Karma (But your Religion should speak of God Almighty , which means it is correct) leave the rest to god. And finally that is all is Hinduism afterall
  • Yes, anyone can become a hindu. You can still continue to follow your religion. You can adapt whichever part of hinduism is suitable to you. There are no specific rules in hinduism.
  • well actually, you can't be converted to hinduism, you must be born hindu to be a true hindu. however you can follow the ways and ideals of the religion, go and worship in a mandir, learn all the poojas. if someone is born a hindu, that person can do everything in his or her power to go against hinduism but he or she will still be a hindu.
  • sometimes I feel that 'God' loves hindu and buddist the most because they do not kill for him. And it is true...Whatever religion you see from the time you are born feels/is a part of your being. Even if you do not truly feel it is correct many times. However this makes me very sad so many times. Only I can speak my feeling but many times other religion leader will condemn me.I feel so upset to the christian, jewish and muslum people because they are the brother religions and only they fight and kill all the time how can we stop them? Is it possible to convert the world?
  • HI Every Body I found a very useful URL/book about this matter and fron this we can infer that " there is nothing called "Born Hindu". And, yes it is possible to become Hindu or to adopt "(Sanatan Dharma)/Eternal Wayof Living". http://www.himalayanacademy.com/resources/books/hbh/hbh_ch-5.html
  • It does not matter if you are born in a Hinduism up bring. That does not make you hindu. You are not born a Christian just because your parent are baptist. Anyone can become a Hindu if they feel its right for them. Color and birth place or your parents belief does not make you hindu or christian rather you are raised Hindu or not anyone can become a Hindu.
  • Being a hindu is not a question of race, nationality or condition of born. nepalis and balinese people are hindus in general and are not indians. and hinduism not always existed there, so they passed throught a conversion proccess when they were under indian influence. being a hindu means believe and practice all principles of the sanatan dharma like reincarnation, moksha, jivatma, karma, dharma and etc. and accept the vedic scriptures as spiritual guides. this makes you a hindu, and not just being born as an indian.
  • You can be anything you want to be. THat is, you can call yourself anything. But the label is not the important thing. IT is the belief.
  • These answers are a wonderful show of everything that's wrong with religion. Some people claim to know what is true; which is distinct from what others know. Eventually people split off. We'll soon have HinduA and HinduB. And everyone can go to war over what is Hinduism, and what is not. Truly, I dislike the "not everyone can become a Hindu" answer. It implies a strong racism.
  • In the main I would tend to agree with the idea that you have to be born a Hindu to be a Hindu. This is true of most of the orthodox Hindu traditions in India. Similar to orthodox Judaism, where only those who were born into Judaism can become a Jew. However, there are modern offshoots of Hinduism where people can convert and become Hindu. The Hare Krishna tradition would be one example. The Hare Krishnas are generally classed as a New Religious Movement though, and they are not seen to be an orthodox Hindu group.
  • You can be a Hindu or a Hindont, it's totally up to you.
  • Yes anyone can become a hindu. Yes, a convert might not be allowed in certain temples, but these are orthodox rules imposed by temple priests for certain agendas. Yes, Hinduism is one the the Four great religions, taught in Bhagavad Gita by Krishna the Incarnation of God and Ram in the Ramanaya, also Incarnation of God. The teachings do have guidelines and regulations to follow as do Islam, Christianity, and Buddhism. Out of all the great religions, Hinduism is probably the most complete dealing with all spiritual subject matter, as taught by Realized masters or the avatar Himself. What a beautiful religion this is-but one must seek and use critical judgement to remove the doubt about a teaching to convince oneself of the truth. Religions are different methods taught to realize the Ultimate truth. And what is that? Read your Bhagavad Gita and find out! The path or method you choose is always yours. Hinduism deals with metaphysical philosopy AND devotion. If you choose Hinduism that was or is your path for now. Thanks
