Help answer this question below.
Yes anyone can, if they really want to be. But you are not compelled to worship god or to do any other things. That is the main difference from other religions. Hinduism is not a religion. It is a way of life. If your heart is pure then you can urself a hindu. We must accept that some super natural power is making us to work. That super natural power is called as god. If you think and worship that a tree is that supernatural power certainly it is so. So we can become a hindu by being pure.
You can become a Hindu if you believe in BhagavadGita and its ideals. So that makes it that you cannot convert yourself to a Hindu. Lord Krishna says follow your own religion as it is you Karma (But your Religion should speak of God Almighty , which means it is correct) leave the rest to god. And finally that is all is Hinduism afterall
Yes, anyone can become a hindu. You can still continue to follow your religion. You can adapt whichever part of hinduism is suitable to you. There are no specific rules in hinduism.
Yes anyone can become a hindu. Yes, a convert might not be allowed in certain temples, but these are orthodox rules imposed by temple priests for certain agendas. Yes, Hinduism is one the the Four great religions, taught in Bhagavad Gita by Krishna the Incarnation of God and Ram in the Ramanaya, also Incarnation of God. The teachings do have guidelines and regulations to follow as do Islam, Christianity, and Buddhism. Out of all the great religions, Hinduism is probably the most complete dealing with all spiritual subject matter, as taught by Realized masters or the avatar Himself. What a beautiful religion this is-but one must seek and use critical judgement to remove the doubt about a teaching to convince oneself of the truth. Religions are different methods taught to realize the Ultimate truth. And what is that? Read your Bhagavad Gita and find out! The path or method you choose is always yours. Hinduism deals with metaphysical philosopy AND devotion. If you choose Hinduism that was or is your path for now. Thanks
You can be a Hindu or a Hindont, it's totally up to you.
You can be anything you want to be. THat is, you can call yourself anything. But the label is not the important thing. IT is the belief.
Being a hindu is not a question of race, nationality or
condition of born. nepalis and balinese people are hindus in general and are not indians. and hinduism not always existed there, so they passed throught a conversion proccess when they were under indian influence. being a hindu means believe and practice all principles of the sanatan dharma like reincarnation, moksha, jivatma, karma, dharma and etc. and accept the vedic scriptures as spiritual guides. this makes you a hindu, and not just being born as an indian.
It does not matter if you are born in a Hinduism up bring. That does not make you hindu. You are not born a Christian just because your parent are baptist. Anyone can become a Hindu if they feel its right for them. Color and birth place or your parents belief does not make you hindu or christian rather you are raised Hindu or not anyone can become a Hindu.
HI Every Body
I found a very useful URL/book about this matter and fron this we can infer that " there is nothing called "Born Hindu". And, yes it is possible to become Hindu or to adopt "(Sanatan Dharma)/Eternal Wayof Living".

sometimes I feel that 'God' loves hindu and buddist the most because they do not kill for him.
And it is true...Whatever religion you see from the time you are born feels/is a part of your being.
Even if you do not truly feel it is correct many times.
However this makes me very sad so many times.
Only I can speak my feeling but many times other religion leader will condemn me.I feel so upset to the christian, jewish and muslum people because they are the brother religions and only they fight and kill all the time how can we stop them?
Is it possible to convert the world?
well actually, you can't be converted to hinduism, you must be born hindu to be a true hindu. however you can follow the ways and ideals of the religion, go and worship in a mandir, learn all the poojas. if someone is born a hindu, that person can do everything in his or her power to go against hinduism but he or she will still be a hindu.
I always thourgt that you can be an hindu by blood ,that you cant become an hindu and an hindu cant be a christian .I dont whant people to be offended but i am very curieuse .can sombody tell me if i am right please.
Iam going to get married to an hindu is it possible for me to become one aswelle.
Hinduism is open to everyone. There may be a few temples that may turn you away if you were not born a Hindu but there are other places you can go. Most of these temples are in India. It is your responsibility to find a good Guru who will direct you on your path. This should be taken very seriously. When you go to a temple take your shoes off and leave your cell phone off and dont bring cameras. there will be a place to leave your shoes. You should dress modestly and women should not wear pants or short skirts. Do not wear tee shirts with odd pictures or writing, try to be more formal. Do not talk in the sanctuary. Nobody will approach you unless you are doing something wrong. Warning:At the BAPS temples you will be stopped if you are not dressed modestly--they will offer you something to wear. Nobody will try to convert you or anything. if its a bigger temple someone may offer to give you a tour or something like that but no one will preassure you to believe or do anything. Do not participate in any ritual unless you understand it and know what you are doing. If they see you are new they may ask you if you know what you are doing. One book I highly recommend is The Idiots Guide to Hinduism. I bought mine at the BAPS Temple in Bartlett Illinoise. Read the book from beginning to end. it is very easy to read. Many temples have a website where you can learn the specifics about their practice and they will have a calendar with the days that are auspicious to fast and other observances. They also have food available for a good price from their native culture. You do not have to repudiate Christianity or the Moslem faith to become a Hindu. Amma is a very good Guru who is good for those not born as Hindus. See her website at Amma.org. She comes to the USA every year a few times a year and has a regular following. If you wish to take a mantra from her you have the option to take a Christian, Moslem, Hindu, or Amma mantra. Only do it if you plan to do the mantra every day, i think she knows if you do it or not even if you dont admit it. Taking a mantra is optional, there is a seperate line you get into for a mantra. before you receive the mantra from Amma you will take a little class with a Bramachari who will teach you what it is you are taking on--your responsibility. After you receive it they will teach you how to pronounce it and what it means. Many mantras are in Sanskrit. Do not reveal or discuss your mantra with others. Your mantra is for your soul specifically. Buy the mala which is like a rosary and start with the one mala a day then do the recommended meditation.(A mala has 109 beads I think, a rosary about 150) You can do research online or in books provided by Amma to learn more about your mantra. Keep your mantra in a safe place, it is kind of irreplaceable. Memorize your mantra as soon as possible, mantras are not very long. Take notes when you attend that class, take notes when they explain how to pronounce your mantra, make sure and ask questions if you dont understand something. keep the notes with your mantra. There is no cost to receive a mantra or attend Temple. One thing about Hinduism is they dont believe one religion has a right to impose itself on others, they ask adherants to respect genuinly all other religions. Amma has this belief as well. Also when you are near the guru your shoes should be off out of respect for him or her. When you are around the Guru wear your best clothes. The book Idiots Guide to Hinduism will be a great resource as well as answers from fellow devotees who are more experienced.
All are born Hindu in this world and this will happen eternally. They are then baptized or through other rituals converted or included in different religions. So be happy you already are a Hindu. You don't have to go through any ceremony to become a Hindu. It is only through your faith in yourself, faith in good doing for other human beings, faith in karma(what ever you do do it properly and submit it to the God to decide) and faith in your own being. This is what is said in Bhagwad Geeta as believed to be said by God himself. Hinduism has a broad heart and lot of space for all human beings to be included. There are many religions , beliefs, ideologies that do not directly follow the scriptures of Hindu religion but still they are respected equally and accepted equally as Hindus. You would be surprised that even if you do not believe in God the Hindu religion accepts you. (the best example to this is the Charwak philosophy) . So dear you don't have to convert to Hinduism. Just go to any temple. Feel yourself one with the god there. It can be idol or even if you close your eyes and feel the god of your present religion and you are practicing hinduism. Irrespective of your being from any religion, any belief any ideology you god will love you and bless you.
These answers are a wonderful show of everything that's wrong with religion. Some people claim to know what is true; which is distinct from what others know. Eventually people split off. We'll soon have HinduA and HinduB. And everyone can go to war over what is Hinduism, and what is not.
Truly, I dislike the "not everyone can become a Hindu" answer. It implies a strong racism.
yes anyone can.....it is the actual religion of all people ....mostly your ancestor also belongs to this religion ...so there is no conversion at all ...just pray for love and unity in the world this was only preachings of hindus.....if possible read some vedas and also some books .....so my blood ....no conversion because your real
In the main I would tend to agree with the idea that you have to be born a Hindu to be a Hindu. This is true of most of the orthodox Hindu traditions in India. Similar to orthodox Judaism, where only those who were born into Judaism can become a Jew.
However, there are modern offshoots of Hinduism where people can convert and become Hindu. The Hare Krishna tradition would be one example. The Hare Krishnas are generally classed as a New Religious Movement though, and they are not seen to be an orthodox Hindu group.
