    As of the census of 2000, there were 20,246 people, 5,534 households, and 4,775 families residing in the city. The population density was 590.4/km sq (1,529.3/mi sq). There were 5,808 housing units at an average density of 169.4/km sq (438.7/mi sq). The racial makeup of the city was 95.30% White, 0.20% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.29% Pacific Islander, 2.00% from Race (United States Census)other races, and 1.34% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.25% of the population.

    Spanish Fork has a large British (English, Scottish and Irish, though they came from the US) and Scandinavian imprint of the city's population. There are over 1,000 Latinos, mostly Mexican immigrants in the city. {{Factdate
