Are you becoming disappointed in AB's impending users and questions?..is it becoming less intellectual and more nonsense?

Yes I see this more and more, what also bothers me is the ranking system in which users get points for simple quantity not quality... AB will soon be nothing more than an alternative to FB

Here's what bothers me greatly and forever. This is a site I love and other Oldtimers do too. Our favorite place to hang out in the internet world. Any time anyone attacks it I take it personally. If you have a problem with the quality of the questions then simply ask some of your own my friend. I have been here a very long time and I don't like having the site or its members attacked which is what you did. Perhaps t'was not your intention. But I'm no different than anyone else who sticks his/her neck out to ask a question. We get as many vilifications sometimes as we get civil responses. We all try our dam*dest to make this place as good as we can. We don't need one of our own shooting it down. That's how I feel. I don't lie m'dear..never. So I'm telling you how it is... the way I see it. If you must ask a question about AB, make it positive and not another potshot hipshot. Not much to ask since you're here and you must enjoy it 'else why would you waste your time? If you choose to ignore this response of mine then fine. Your choice. Read Astrid's response in answer to your question. That is what you are creating here with such a question. That is what you are putting out in the universe. Is that what you really want do to? Encouraging someone like her to jump on the crap bandwagon? Why?

Before ibegin, I want to note that I meant no harm when saying I will ignore that post, it was being playful to inform you I meant no disrespect..
I admire your dedication to the site and it warms my heart to see you defend it, as you said it would not be sensible to contiue usage if not am dissatisfied with it however is that what you want others to do as well? Rosie you post questions that people of intellectual prowess of some sort would trade ideas, at least, that's what I thought of this site.. I viewed it as more than simple Q&A I viewed it as a chance to interact with people knowledgeable in certain categories and to spew what ideas we have to each other whether it be "attacking" or encouraging each other..Rosie I too enjoy this site but being a fellow "oldtimer" I know that you too are somewhat alarmed by the questions posted and some of the users, I wasn't intending on directly attacking them but to elude to the fact that ABers once had quality, I am not blaming the site Rosie I'm blaming the users.. I recall you informing me on the creation of your name, the "jetpacker" monicker and if my memory serves me correct you stated it involved you, other ABers and charitable work.. are they still around? How do they feel about this new trend and how many new users will do this..I admire your honesty and your spirit in this site portrays an arousing personality but set emotion aside Rose, prevent from being such a saint and see the blatant facts.. take a look in the deep thoughts category, the stream on the homepage and any other category and you will see what I mean.... Astrid is her own person and she, like any other user, can see the activity and the calibur of the questions Rosie therefore they will react how they feel, I am simply acknowledging the similarity... ill leave you with an example, I posed a question in deep thoughts not too long ago and it was tooken completely literal, not one question I received caught the underlying message in the metaphor and I got simple jokes.. how would that make you feel?

Here is my response to the above. I focus on what I do best and enjoy and as for the rest...I simply ignore it. I do not waste my time with questions that are offensive. I focus on what is of interest to me and I participate to the extent that I think I have something of value to contribute. I also ask silly/wacky questions at times just because I need a break and my friends who know me well come along for the ride. If you were to evaluate me by those alone how would that be fair? Instead of reviewing the work of others and criticizing the lack of substance therein refocus on something positive that will not be a waste of time. I never visit the adult section and some adult things find there way into the general questions and I am offended by them. I just ignore them. I am not here to ride herd on people or show them the error of their ways or suggest ways in which their contributions could be improved. This is an internet social site..nothing more. It is not school or work or a publishing firm. Some people here are troublemakers. Ignore them. Some ask vulgar questions. I ignore them. Some are here just to shock. I ignore them. Why don't you ignore that which is displeasing to you and use that time instead to build it up? I just don't get it IS. I just don't.

You are correct but why "turn on the light" if others prefer it dark? I suppose I'm caring toomuch about the users, my apologies for thinking about the best interest for the site and users who share my opinion just like there are those who share yours... Why ask an excellent questions if excellent people aren't here to answer Rosie? That's what I don't get, if I need legal advice why would I ask a question unqualified lawyers would answer? You feel like I'm being judgemental but I'm not insulting one user I'm insulting that certain group I feel gives AB a bad name, maybe I'm a villain for that but it won't change.. Its a free site just like its a free country and I do ignore those questions but sometimes I would like meaningful Q&A not "a pictures worth a thousand____" or something about lady gag in the deep thoughts section... I constantly see you relentlessly defending this site Rosie and stating "why not leave" like I've said I love dedication but you must empathize and not stay one-sided

Because we love the site Rosie honey, we wouldn't like to go, if I was a new user and visited this site for the very first time looking for substance to questions I have then yes I would leave, not return and shun the person who referred me.... Rosie we utilize this site for more than Q&A, some of us use it for personal connections of some sort or even simple social exchange.. We have Google but we want something more.. I stick around hoping that decent users will become more and more active, sort of like a marriage we hope will improve. If Harvard had a 100% acceptance rate and you were Harvard dean of admissions, how would you defend Harvard in a debate against quality students when the new students haven't utilized the resources properly or haven't shown intellectual ability? Rosie I wouldn't spend so much time advising us to leave rather than advising those users to leave.. however I suppose having a quantity of users is better than having quality,its better for business right? It worked for FB

How does asking insulting questions about AB or its members help the site IS? If you think that is the way to improve what we have here you are quite mistaken. You chip away at it each time you insult us. Why don't you ask questions that build up the site or better yet don't ask any questions at all about AB...just ask some dam* good questions period...you know the kind you were complaining about not finding here? Instead of complaining about the darkness why not turn on a light instead IS? Every member is valuable and no one is any better than anyone else. Remember that. We are not royalty or peasants. We each contribute what we have to give to the best of our ability and your criticizing what that is certainly doesn't help anyone. Just start inundating AB with some excellent questions of your own creation. That will be the most valuable thing you can contribute. Don't pander to the disaffected AB members with such questions as this. Ask excellent questions about serious subjects..about things that are going on in the world. Ask questions that cause people to think not react with hipshot potshots. Seriously.
