  • As of the census of 2000, there were 15,875 people, 6,611 households, and 4,469 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,693.2/km sq (4,389.6/mi sq). There were 7,101 housing units at an average density of 757.4/km sq (1,963.5/mi sq). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.65% White, 0.73% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.74% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.28% from Race (United States Census)other races, and 1.34% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.78% of the population. There were 6,611 households out of which 28.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2% were Marriagemarried couples living together, 11.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% were non-families. 25.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.87. In the CDP the population was spread out with 22.5% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 18.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 92.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males. The median income for a household in the CDP was $41,981, and the median income for a family was $50,131. Males had a median income of $31,418 versus $25,227 for females.
