The racial makeup of the borough was 96.91% White, 0.64% African American, 0.01% Native American, 1.47% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from Race (United States Census)other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. There were 3,015 households out of which 25.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.3% were Marriagemarried couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.3% were non-families. 33.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 3.06.
