Help answer this question below.

Is there anything that will help my dogs hot spots?

My dog is a house dog and she is constantly scratching and biting to where her hair falls off and there is nothing but damaged skin. Where she scrathes and bites those spots are constanly hot and always red. I don't know what else to do. I tried this hot spot treatment but it still doesnt work and I use shampoo for sensitive dry skin and for hot spots and that still doesnt work. Is there anything else that will help my dog?

I had a dog that had something like that. She was allergic to beef dog food. I started feeding her lamb and rice and she healed up and got beautiful.

You'd really have to ask your vet 1st, but I had my Siberian (they are notoriously allergic & get hot spots) on Zyrtec. It worked great for three years, then we switched to Claritin this past spring. I found some vets don't even want to address canine allergies so if you run into resistance from your vet you might need to be somewhat insistent. Something in the environment might be bothering her. Do you have carpet? Do you use carpet shampoo? Even perfumes on her humans could even do it. My Siberian is allergic to pollen! I know grass pollens can really bother dogs and even though she's a house dog, she stills go outside to do her duties. We avoid letting our dog roam thru fresh mowed grass and grass that has gone to seed. I've also read that some times these skin conditions are linked to hypothyroidism. Again, you might want to talk to the vet about this, if you haven't already.
