We are now painfully aware that politicians are ill-equipped to run this country, but what's the alternative?

    Anarchy. Politicians don't run the country - they run the government. Of course, we could try reform the existing system. I don't think there is some universal law that all politicians must be incompetent.

    Actually I was asked to give a speech in Ohio to a ladies club (some years back) and the subject was 'politicians' - the main thrust of my speech was that I found it very hard to understand how american trusted their politicians - we in europe figured out many many years ago that they were dishonest, liars and al whole bunch of adjectives. Hardly anyone gave me a hand! (Strange I thought)
