  • Boy, do I wish that was possible! It's like being in a movie theater and having the actors whisper during explosions -- I don't know why the movie-makers think we can understand what they're saying. Your only hope: Some TVs have a feature called "SRS" (Sound Retrieval System) that artifically gives a concert-hall feeling to the sound coming out of the TV. If the SRS button on your TV is turned "on," it will definitely cause the music and effects to overpower the dialogue. So, I hope that all you have to do is turn your SRS "off." If that's not the case, you are stuck like all the rest of us. Sorry.
  • A cheap ten band equalizer might be worth a try. I am assuming that the sounds are all mixed. Some movies are louder when music is theme music is playing and when it stops, voices are very low. So this second one is just volume adjustment.
  • Sony telivisions have an engine called Steady sound that might help this. It's made to adjust sound for commercials.
  • Movie and TV makers are idiots. They drown the dialog in background noise and music. So instead, I've been looking at cooking shows. I'm gaining weight, but at least, I'm not frustrated.
