Maybe. Regular brushing (and FLOSSING!) of your teeth and gums certainly won't HURT, will it?

We tend to focus on the more obvious things like smoking, coffee, tea, cola and red wine but lets be realistic just about everything will stain them in some way or another. The less obvious things include pasta sauces, fruit juices like orange juice and spices like curries.

The staining components will get blocked in to the ducts or pores of the enamel and will overtime slowly change the colour so unless you intend to drink water and white bread for the rest of your life then you have to expect the teeth to stain. We can reduce this by regular brushing, good dental hygiene but we are facing a life-long battle.

There is no seal that can be placed on the teeth as they need to be able absorb and release saliva and that is what keeps the teeth live and working to their optimum level. The only long term sealant would be veneers and they are sometimes a last resort for people who have very bad teeth that restorative dentistry or whitening cannot correct.

Teeth whitening needs to be an ongoing activity and this is not going to hurt the teeth in any way especially if you top up the whiteness every eight to ten weeks. This can be done with some whitening strips or some home kit trays which use a mild peroxide and will gently eliminate any staining which is built up in this time period. Leave it too long and the staining will be too deep in the enamel for a home kit solution to work to any effect.

Another option is to have 1 hour laser teeth whitening every six to nine months as this will keep the teeth looking great and a top up with the laser can be done with just two ten minute sessions. Laser whitening is more powerful than the kits used a home but will cost more money as these will need to be done by a dentist or laser whitening professional.

Always ensure that you keep regular appointments with the dentist as there is no excuse for not seeing them because your teeth and gums feel fine. Dentists will see how the teeth are changing and can help with any future problems before they actually start!

A great smile everyone can see and therefore keep it as white for as long as possible and look at whitening as a long term activity and this will keep the teeth white. Many new products are coming on to the market all the time as new research and data is being used to create great new products which work well and give lower sensitivity levels.

Yeah, it keeps them from getting yellowish but doesn't mean that it's good for the teeth. There's a saying that the acid from foods/drinks such as coffee and most fruits softens teeth enamel, so it's not good for the teeth if you brush it immediately after you consume any of those food. I'm not sure bout this though, you should do some research on it before making it a long-term practice.
