Thompson is widely credited with creating the term "gonzo journalism." Did Thompson really coin the phrase?

    Gonzo

    Yeah, in terms of journalism. Gonzo is a form of first-account bizzare style of writing which often includes mixing fiction and non-fiction. This style was first introduced by Hunter Thompson, but i think it's becomoming more widely used.
    However, Im not sure if the muppet Gonzo came before Thompson's Gonzo.
