The late, great Lester Bowie did. With his band, the Brass Fantasy he even recorded a song entitled For Louie (written by Phillip Wilson and Fontella Bass). You can find the song on the album "All the Magic" from 1983, ECM Records. Check the details on Allmusic. I also think any considerate Jazz trumpet player will have to tip his hat to Louis Armstrong. Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie certainly did, and in our days Till Brönner would do so, too (He is a very good trumpet player who also recorded with people like Bootsy Collins, although he basically plays Jazz).
