No, it is not okay for our missionaries to yell at you and tell you that you are going to hell. Not knowing precisely what happened to you I can think of only two reasons why this may have happened. The first possibility is that you did something to really provoke the missionary. However, if this is the case, then the missionary should have just politely disengaged from the discussion with you and left. He should not have have condemned you in that way. It is only God that has the authority to issue such a judgment.

The other possibility for why this might have happened to you is because it happened while you were visiting Temple square in Salt Lake City. If this is where this happened, then I would say that it was probably not an LDS missionary that yelled at you. There are a number of more rabid Christians that set up outside of Temple Square for the specific purpose of trying to "save" people from Mormonism. In many cases they will behave in the way you have described. It is possible that you encountered one such person and mistook him for an LDS missionary.

If it was definitely an LDS missionary that did that to you, then I would recommend contacting his Mission President. He can talk to the missionary and get him to modify his behavior. (We definitely don't want a representative of the Church abuse people in this way.) Tell the Mission President precisely what happened when and where. (From the when and where he should be able to figure out the who.)

Unfortunately, I don't know of a direct way for you to determine how to get a hold of the Mission President in question. The best that I can suggest is to goto http://tinyurl.com/9dmg4 and locate a congregation in the area where the incident took place. the information on that congregation should also contain a contact phone number. Call that phone number on a Sunday a little over 3 hours after the "First meeting start" time giving on the congregation's web site and ask for the phone number to the office of the Mission that covers that area. They should be able to help you.
