All roads lead not to fairies. Not to Santa Claus. Not to etc, but to GOD.

God is a far more "important" subject for mankind than a fat guy delivering gifts is. Hence, why there are so many more questions about him than there are about Santa, The Tooth Fairy, or whatever else. You shouldn't confuse that with anything else though. You are not making a point here.

Skepticism is healthy and worthy of any intellectual. However, many take comfort in assuming that anything that can not be physically defined by three dimensional physics or science can't exist. There are many theories that postulate a universe of 11 dimensions. That leaves 8 dimensions that can not be accurately defined, tested or proven by science, math, physics or anything known to man. Like you, I can not say that God exists, but with all the unknowns in the universe I can't say with scientific certainty that he does not. Again, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

People don't kill, ostracise, belittle or reject people who don't believe in Santa. Neither do they attempt to change a nation's laws based on Santa's Naughty and Nice list...

The origin of the word Fairy is considered to be Irish coming from the ancient Gods of Ireland, the Tuatha De Danann. Their rule over Ireland came to an end with the defeat to the Milsians, and so they hid themselves in underground Kingdoms such as Knockma and Knocknashee. These Gods and Godesses ruled these subterrainean kingdoms and were known collectively as Fir Sidhé - meaning Men of the Hills, and Beanne Sidhé - meaning Women of the Hills. The Fir Sidhé losing their high status became known as the Little People and Fir Sidhé became Fairy. The God Lugh became known as "little Stooping Lugh" which later became Leprechaun. The Beanne Sidhé became known as the Banshee. Throughout Ireland there are specific areas known as Fairy Forts, Fairy Rings and Fairy Trees, but tradition has it that no one should ever mess with any of these areas, as fairies are still considered quite powerful and sometimes dangerous. The popular image is very much different to the old belief.

My guess would be that it is because there are very few people here on AB trying to ram belief in fairies and Santa Claus down other peoples throaths.

Possibly because no one tries to force their belief in things like fairies and Santa Claus onto others, nor do they try to have laws changed to suit their beliefs. No one goes around threatening you with hell and damnation if you do not beleive in fairies or Santa Claus.

God is all year-round, where Santa is seasonal...and "fairies" isn't politically correct and may land your a$$ in the Penalty Box. :-)

I was surprised once I joined AB, on how much God plays in the life of fellow baggers, as it seems to be a declining industry where I am living, I am however impressed by some baggers convictions, and how knowledgeable some are.

Because believing in God isn't the same as believing in fairies or Santa. People don't open hospitals or feed the homeless because of Santa. Countries and civilizations are not formed based on their belief of fairies. Lives are not saved or transformed for the better because of mythical creatures.

Mature adults know these things are imaginary. Immature adults not only are absolutist about god(s) but have many other weird beliefs, some believing in faires and the like.

The comparison of god to santa klaus is not as crazy as it seems.

Both are ideas of mankind and were created for a reason.

Personally, I believe that the santa idea is the more benign concept.

i dont think santa or fairies threatened anyone with hell.

Because not many people seriously believe in fairies or Santa Clause and those who do often understand that they are seen as at least a little bit crazy. The same as for smaller religions/sects.

Christianity is mostly discussed too even when we are talking about theism/atheism even though there are so many other religions and beliefs. All this because Christianity is the most usual religious belief in the western world.

I've never had people pushing fairies or santa onto me, probably has something to do with it, that and I can't recall any accounts of people being tortured and murdered for not believing, not so religion.
That said, if you're going to believe in one thing for which there is no evidence, you might as well believe in everything there's no evidence for, like dragons, unicorns and monsters under the bed. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence after all!

Probably because many in here are what some of us call..."true" believers.

Those of who are not believers don't usually think of such human misconceptions, except, of course, in an analytical manner.
