US Ambassador to Korea, Kathleen Stephens biography states that she has a son by her former Korean husband. What is the background on this.

Did her former Korean husband die or did they divorce? If so why, where and when? Did she remarry? And finally, why is she being replaced by President Obama with Korean American, Sung Kim?
