Help answer this question below.

What are some cool and interesting things to do in Chicago?

Me and the wife are going for the week end. I'd like to know, hopefully from some natives, what good places to eat and things to see while there.
I was there for Navy boot camp. Didn't see much of the city.

    I was raised in the Chicago area ... it's a fantastic city and very user friendly!!

    If you're visiting the downtown area ...

    I would suggest you go to Navy Pier .. there's a huge ferris wheel that overlooks Lake Michigan and some great shops! Gorgeous views.

    Go up in what used to be Sears Tower .. now called Willis Tower. 110 stories high .. fantastic views on the top!!!

    There are also boat cruises starting on the Chicago River sailing out onto Lake Michigan!

    There are many museums to visit ... Museum of Science and Industry -- where you can go down in a Coal Mine or into an old WWII German Uboat. You can also visit the Planetarium or Shedd Aquarium or Art Institute or Natural History Museum! We love these.

    Take a ride on the EL (Elevated Train) around and over the downtown area!!

    Food!!! Food!!! Food!!

    For Chicago style deep dish/stuffed pizza ... Giordano's the the best.

    For great Chicago Style hot dogs and Italian Beef ... Portillo's ... wonderful!!!

    I traveled to Chicago on business many, many times. I never took the time to do the tourist thing, but all the people I met in various venues were extremely friendly and hospitable. To me, the people tell the story...and Chicagoians (if there's a word) have never disappointed. Of course, I spent a lot of hours at the bars after working hours, where you'll never feel alone. :-)

    Oh, and some really great restaurants, too.
