Why don't NASCAR drivers race in the rain?

They gots no windshield wipers.

Due to high speeds and the fact they are on bald tires for maximum grip in the rain, it would be a disaster for them to try and drive in anything else other then ideal conditions.

Because they are wimps. Seriously though, many other forms of auto racing have wipers and they use special tires for the rain. And of course they slow down. Basically, there is no LEGITIMATE reason other than possibly spectator comfort. In that respect, they have nothing on WRC fans who slog through the rain and stand in the woods waiting to be sprayed with gravel and mud.

The high speeds and the combination of the wet ground would cause for very pore traction. Nascar already has alot of crashes as it is. They are trying to make it more safe. In adition to this, nascar is an outdoor sport. Spectators sit on bleachers. This would cause fan discomfort.

NASCAR drives in the rain on road courses. They just did in Montreal on rain tires and had a wiper. I don't know why they dont do so on ovals. I hate seeing a race end early because of the rain.
