Hate the term, becasue its how I have felt about myself for years after the fact.

PS> I hope no one ever calls anyone that ever. I hope no one ever has been called that(Cause its not true). And I hope that anyone who has been raped or abused in any way, has come to terms with it, and has been able to put it behind them.

have a good day everyone :)

Anyone who goes looking at people the way he/she would go looking for merchandise--seeking a uniform, showroom-quality standard--is wholly ignorant of the variety of beautiful human nature in the first place, not to mention the variety of influences that may impact what each of us has to offer others. Some really do see other human beings that way, but we're all too "good" to be someone else's "goods," period.

I'm a man and I've never been raped or physically abused but i still hate that term which in this context is intended solely to belittle victims.

Depends on who is using the term and how they are using it.

I call myself a 'broken toy'. There is a few people who make it sound nasty when they use it, thus I hate it when they say it. I assume that their attitude is such that using 'damaged goods' would suddenly become something dirty and much more sinister than what I would use it (as a 'nice' way of alluding to bad events).

They say that about girls who aren't virgins too. I think it's really fucked up, you have to look at them as people not "damaged goods". I'm a guy and that still offends me when I hear someone say that. It's very demeaning and complete B.S.

I got over it by addressing the truth of it and accepting; a judgment made without all knowledge means that there, too, is some dammaged goods. I try to see and be above judgments, as they only prove to make me wrong. The term seems but insecure petty ignorance.

yes i do because alot of folks that know about my past exs think them a saddistic women who hurt only because they could and i would say that thats true to a extent. first gf was a cutter and beater, second was a emotional terroist, and third was a well combination of the two. but damaged goods isnt a good term cautious and someone who knows how a bad relationship is is better
