Since the Grand national is about to start, a horse racing question - do the horses feel intense pain when whipped?

    they do not feel an intense pain when being hit with a crop, more like a bee sting. but if being hit with a long whip or a bull whip, it can hurt and possably cause laserations. those whips are to be used for noise not force, but a well trained horse will not need a whip, and if it is not needed, do not use it.

    I think that would depend apon if the jockey just flicks or really weals the horse. The second is not allowed and would involve the jockey being banned for a period of time.. They are coming into line

    Thet have new rubber sprung whips now that are no way near as bad as the old ones. They will still feel it though a little. Some horses will just stop running if theyre being hurt.
