  • the holy books of Hinduism are Ramayan, and Mahabharat.
  • Ramayanam and Mahabharatham are not holy books. They are, of course, very good literature and can speak a lot about hinduism and indian culture. In fact there are no specific holy books for hinduism, since hinduism is not a religion.
  • Hinduism is not limited by one holy book but Bhagvad Gita and various Upanishads form the core of hinduism. Bhagvad Gita: One doctrine which can change the entire face of Mankind and give solace to one and all... and the best part of it is... all are gainers! No losers!! The Essence of all sacred Scriptures existing on Mother Earth... not related to any Religion, creed or caste... the most sacred Doctrine existing on Mother Earth... the Essence of all Humanity! Bhagvad Gita is the first dictation of God, the almighty Creator to the Mankind through Lord Krishna (considered an Avatar). Bhagvad Gita: bhagvad gita the Song Celestial is the voice of God communicated to the masses around 3500 years ago through the Avatar of that Era Bhagwan Sri Krishna. The doctrine of Bhagvad Gita was administered only at a time when Mankind had evolved itself to a level enough to grasp the meaning of it. (It is a different matter that only one person Pandava king Arjuna alone was competent to fathom the depths of what we know as "Bhagvad Gita"). More here- http://www.godrealized.com/bhagvad_gita.html

These are not seen as the literal word of any deity. It is not comparable to the Abrahamic traditions. The Vedic scriptures are widely studied.
