    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

A flywheel is a rotating disc that stabilizes the torque produced by engines by storing energy during lulls in activity. Since Neolithic times, the tool and its later-engineered formula of energy storage have been put to use in potter's wheels, Egyptian drills and even oxen hitches before being included in an early steam engine. A flywheel is standard in most engines in 2011.
