    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Atlantis was not a real island but a myth, so there were no survivors. According to the story, Atlantis was in the Atlantic Ocean, west of the Pillars of Hercules, and abruptly disappeared beneath the sea because of the sinfulness of its inhabitants. There have been similar myths and legends about other land masses disappearing beneath the sea, including Lyonnesse, which supposedly was off the Cornish coast, the lost Breton city of Ys and the Greek Isles of Blest.
