    How to rescue.
stopping the boat, turning the boat,
assigning positions to other sailors so one doesn't lose sight of the " overboard" person.

the maneuvers are done over and over using a half full laundry soap bottle....
one also learns how to enter a harbor safely, and docking,
one also learns how to keep the crew safe (lines) during storms..
One learns a check list of items needed before leaving harbor.

what is also taught is first aid, and how to deal with fire, and floading, and sinking.
at leat that is what I had to learn getting my captains license.
