I am an EMT in KY, having recently relocated here. Is it legal to use sirens on my personal vehicle for use as an EMT while responding to a bona fide emergency? I know lighting is legal, but sirens?

Each state has their own definition of an emergency vehicle. this includes markings, lights and audio equipment. this is necessary for several reasons.

Private vehicles are not emergency vehicles. this is a state/local law requirement for liability purposes.

Running your private vehicle, as an emergency vehicle, will get you a pretty hefty fine, if you do not collide with someone else and thats a different story, altogether.

Also, you auto insurance would cancel, if they were aware you were running your vehicle as requested.

Check your local and state laws.
