How much fuel do the tanks attached to the Space Shuttle hold?

    There's only one tank attached to the shuttle, not counting the boosters on either side, and that's the Main External Tank. The tank itself can carry 35 tons of fuel, but is actually divided into a large section for fuel, and a smaller part for the oxygen to ignite that fuel. The hydrogen section can hold up to 53,518 cubic feet of fuel.

    it can hold up to 35 tons of fuel but all of it is seperated into different parts which doesn't make it seem like some much fuel.
