Other than apparently being a magnet for people asking for spare change, I seem to be relatively proof against people taking unfair advantage of me.

    Perhaps that's because I'm a cynical misanthrope...:-D...

Or maybe it's because I have 'brain damage'....;-D....

"It was the grimaces, the histrionisms, the false gestures, and, above all, the false tones and cadences of the voice...which caused word-deaf aphasiacs to laugh hysterically at the Great Communicator, while one agnosiac, relying entirely on the actual words, sat is stony silence, concluding that "he is not cogent"..."his word use is improper"..and suspecting that "he as something to conceal".
    .
'Here then...was the paradox of the President's speech. We normals, doubtless aided by our wish to be fooled were indeed well and truly fooled...and so cunningly...that only the brain-damaged remained intact, undeceived'

---Excerpt about brain-damaged individuals not buying Ronald Reagan's BS from The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat by Oliver Sachs.

They have lied to me and talked me into doing stuff! Now, I just don't care... If you want something done, do it yourself. I dont believe everything that comes out of someones mouth either. Show me the proof, then I'll believe you other than that its whatever!

My husband and his mother take advantage of me. His mother thinks I'm her personal nurse, and my husband thinks I'm suppose to raise the children (which I did), clean house, cook, handle all finances and have money for retirement. What he doesn't know is, I'm on my way out the door. He's going to be so surprised.

People try to guilt trip me into doing what they want. I admit that I feel guilt easily, but I've grown a bit more resistant towards this tactic with each passing attempt to use me.

Lie. Lies are the biggest advantage-takers I can think of Lucinda. I don't lie so I don't expect others to lie so I believe what people tell me. Then I find out later they were liars. Not their fault. They are what they are and I am what I am and that's it in a nutshell! :)

    I like this question.
Yeah, have to agree that the biggest problem is with people lying all the time, about one thing or another, little lies, big lies. 'Couldn't tell the truth if their life depended on it' liars are the biggest problem. When people start with the poor mouthing it really make me suspicious of their intents.
