If I play the lottery and hold two identical winning tickets and there is no one to split the jackpot with, would the second ticket be a waste or will I get double the jackpot?

    The lottery is split between everyone who holds the winning tickets. If you own two winning tickets and no one else does, the second ticket would essentially be a waste.

    rc: this question clearly stated that there was no one else to split it with.

    Its the same as playing bingo. if you have two winning cards and you are the only winner, you win the total game prize and is not doubled.

    Hold on there Babalooie...the second ticket is definitely a waste to buy...but if you've already bought it you better hold onto it because then it's definitely not a waste. The lottery knows there are two winning tickets so you'd better produce both or you only get half.
