    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

The speed of a train varies according to its type, the terrain it is traveling over and its cargo. An Amtrak passenger train travels at an average speed of 90 mph, but can travel at up to 150 mph. A freight train has a speed limit of 60 mph.
