Since God created life, He is the only one with the right to end it. He does authorize certain killings, but unauthorized killing is always wrong, even in the secular world.

Something that the churches don’t teach you, The phrase “Thou shalt not kill” sounds familiar to most persons for that is how some popular Bibles render Exodus 20:13. (Deut. 5:17) If, though, you look up this text in many modern translations, you will likely find “You must not murder” or “You must not commit murder.”

The commands were wrote for sinful man with mans human limitations in mind, such limitations do not apply to a perfect God as he has ultimate wisdom and justice to make the correct decisions which men do not, more importantly is the fact that only God has power over life, he is able take or to give life when it is just to do so (Acts 17:25), what man cannot give he should not take.

Humanity is, ( according to myth,), a science experiment.

A creator being made us and he wants us to evolve in a certain way along his preconceived guidelines. When humanity becomes to divergent from his preset plans he eliminates the divergent elements.

God did not create us to live on earth. God d
created us so that we have a free will and with that, a chance to live eternal life after death on earth. When a man kills a fellow man, it interupts the process God created for man to prove his worthyness for eternal life. However, the uncertainty of when and how each of us will die is part of the process God created. So if a man dies from a natural disaster, a car accident or natural causes, God has not "killed" that man. That man has completed his time on earth and will either have earned eternal salvation or he will have failed. Remember, God did not simply create us for the short fraction of a moment we live here on earth. Eternal life starts after death.

If this life lasted forever without danger of ending prematurely, few would do anything worthwhile.

As for the commandment, taken in context we know it refers to a capital offense, namely the unjust taking of human life. Killing animals or convicted murderers is sometimes permissible.

A more accurate translation is "Thou shalt do no murder".

Either way however, the absense of a moral standard that is both objective and universally absolute is an obvious (though rarely acknowledged) problem in Christian moral philosophy, and in Divine-Command philosophies in general.

When you make the rules as well as the ontology upon which they are based, you can declare yourself immune from their implications.

Remember, "Do as I say, not as I do".

It's not "We shall not kill".

It's wonderful how humans' most typical behaviour is not to obey God, and not even to disobey him, and actually not even reject his existence, but rather to put themselves on his level, as his equals.

The idea of subordination is indeed alien to human mind.

The commandment states "THOU shalt not kill", meaning mankind (or the thou) does not decide when things die. God does not says "WE shalt not kill". God can command people to kill other people, but it is He who is making the decision, not us. Just like witht he Israelites. However, I think that is only done in specific circumstances. So don't go claiming revelation and start killing people.

Consider what Mother Teresa said in one of her books, God didn't create poverty, those of us in this world who are able have let this happen to our fellow human beings. Those of us who are wealthy don't care enough to help other humans in need. So we have poverty and death. So I don't believe God kills, we humans do it. One nation under God, yep, that's us; we execute folks at a record pace, we run all over the planet killing because it's in America's interest that we intervene (the deaths that result are just "an unfortunate occurance" in this pursuit, as we have to protect ourselves), and we have even done abortions after the first trimester. Don't forget the jet fighter and missiles we've used in Iraq, Afganistan, and now Libya. But if this is not enough to satisfy you then how about this. God has such a far-reaching plan for the universe, one that is so grand, so over the eons in unfolding, that we live and we die, and the it is all part of this plan that is certainly inconceivable, as it has to be. I see children die all the time in my charity project at a Mexican children's hospital; I ask God to take me instead of these kids everytime (I'm 60), but they still die. He'll take me when I've done my work for Him, and he'll do the same with you. Then, you and I can get together on the other side and find out just what the answer to your question really is.

Only a complete, incompetent, idiot would make a statement like this.

By YOUR ignorant way of thinking, "Thou Shalt Not Kill" applies to all things , animals, people and plants.
You kill corn to eat it, therefore You have killed.
If you're going to post "clever"questions, at least read and understand what you're talking about, otherwise, you're just showing people what an ignorant moron you actually are.

    Why does(3/1)God kill?
    How doesn't(2/4)Devil birth?

To be a God's people, you must be DEAD to SELF.

The Devil wins. That is when God wins. When we become nothing. Breathing or NOT!

Main reason is that the Lawmaker is never subject to the laws he make. He can change them at will or issue dispensations to himself.

I read somewhere that the US Congress exempted itself when passing US laws prohibiting child labor. That may be a myth (It was in the comic strip Doonesbury), but the point is that they can do that. And so can god.

Also notice the wording. He is not declaring a universal "killing is bad" rule; he is telling people that THEY do not have permission to do that "YOU may not kill", similar to "If you are younger than 16, you may not drive an automobile.".

    regards JakobA

God told us not to kill because He, as the giver of life, is the only one with the right to take it. If we take it, therefore, without His given authority to do so we tresspass against His soveriegnty. It's kinda like me asking you over to my home and showing off a fancy statue I just bought and you haul off and smash it. You'd be wrong, right. But if I smashed it, or gave you a big hammer and said "Swing away!" that's fine.
What we often seem to forget is that when we say "God" we are talking about the One that created all things for His good pleasure. We don't, therefore, stand on equal footing. It's like a child having a problem with dad not letting them drive his car because it seems there's some kind of double standard when he drives it all the time.
