  • Swelling can usually be reduced by immersion in warm, salty water. (The reason has to do with osmosis--it's exactly the opposite of how you get wrinkled fingers in the bath.) That's probably not very convenient on a lip, but it should work if you find a way to do it (say, a small cup).
  • I have used this method on several occasions...Put an uncoated asprin on the wound inside your lip...I was told of this method by a nurse and it does work to keep the swelling down...tastes really bad though.
