Why do i need to buy the Xbox router if i want wireless online play? cant i just hook up a separate router and an Ethernet cable to my Xbox?

It is no problem to a use a non Xbox brand router and Xbox wireless USB device to connect. Or you can connect internet with ethernet cable to a non branded router. Of course the router must be connected to an ADSL modem or have it built in.
