Howitzer 105mm Artillery cannon is a nice gun that I am trained to use.

The Comanche helicopter has a very nice 20mm gatling machine gun that fires depeted uranium bullets with a very high rate of fire.

The standard Kalashnikov AK-47 is an above adequate assault rifle that is both cheap and durable.

There are many makers of simple 12 guage double barrel shot guns that I like.

Glock makes a nice 9mm hand gun.

For hunting and basic use a 223, 308 or 300 Win mag is easy to find ammo for. I ma lucky to build custom rifles and such. I am only limited my my desire to build the one I want.
I hunt with a sporterized Mauser 96. With original barrel in 6.5x55. Has taken several hundred deer from crop damage hunting. The ammo is custom and speed is near a 264 Win mag.

    cheers

I like my AR-15 best. It has a LaRue Stealth upper with a stainless polygonal rifled 16" barrel and railed free float handguards, an ACOG in a LaRue mount, a SureFire weapon light (also in a LaRue mount), a MagPul MIAD grip and trigger guard, and a decent vertical forgrip. And some nice folding back up iron sights.

I favour a Springfield SMD XD-40(40 cal.) semi auto pistol for home defense. I probably need to find a shooting range to see if I can still hit a barn door. haha

It all depends on what you're doing. Since I don't hunt but I love guns, I have two main criteria when purchasing a firearm.

    1) It must look cool
    2) It must be fun to shoot

Aside from that it's really just a matter of my mood or what kinds of targets I'm shooting at. I love shooting clay pigeons, and my 12 gauge is awesome for that. When it comes to shotguns, go big or go home. I also like target shooting with my AR-15 and my MAK-90, although the MAK-90 (as with all AK-47 rifles) is not a very accurate firearm. Still fun to shoot, though. My favorite handgun is my Springfield XD-9 9mm. It stacks 16 rounds per clip and came with a rail-mount tactical xenon flashlight. My Colt .45 is fun, but the kick is hard enough that if your hands are a little cold it can actually be uncomfortable to shoot. For rifles I prefer .308. Mainly because of their availability and price. It's a great caliber for sniping or hunting, and it's affordable to shoot. A friend of mine does sniper competitions using a Sako TRG-22 .308. They're picking off targets from 1,000 yards out fairly accurately. A coworker of mine shoots a .300 ultra mag and it's just too big. 3 or 4 shots and you're flinching from the kick.

Great question. For white tail deer used to use a .30-06 in Remington 742 WoodsMaster automatic I inherrited from my grand father. Still got it and serial # under 50k so nice early gun.Its in adl deluxe trim with bear and deer ingraved from factory. My favorite gun for sure. Now for deer and elk I moved into 7mm mag.in a Browning auto.Real nice Rem.870 police issue and a standard both 12 ga.Last but not least a S&W 586-7 revolver 6"barrel and in.357 mag its unique it holds 7 rounds so real nice for putting .38's into some paper. If you like new stuff I've heard of a Cheytak .408 it has a range of 2500 yards and the bullet is supersonic past 2000 yards.Crazy.

30-06 and .270 cal have the widest range of loads. light fast loads for longer distances and heavier higher energy loads for shorter distances. 30-06 is my favorite all around cal followed closely by 7mm mag. I also like the Ithaca deer slayer in 12 ga. the older deer slayer with the smooth bore is better all around because you can use slugs and buck shot. I also have an AK-47, marlin .444, 2 winchester lever actions 30-30 and 32 cal. , a model 88 winchester in 308, a .17 cal and many more. My wife prefers the .243 because of the low recoil.
When it comes to hand guns I like the 9mm just for fun the 45 cal for knock down and in revolvers the .44 mag and the .357.

I like long guns. I have ones chambered in .22LR, .243 Win, 7mm remington mag, 7.62x54R and a .410 shotgun. Handguns are cool but I don't own any, I'd like to in the future. I have heard good things about the .223 remington caliber, decently priced and low recoil. Most of my guns are synthetic stock with scopes, except for my Mosin Nagant which I got recently, can't wait to shoot that. You can't beat the price, you can get them as low as $70 or 80, but I'd pay a little more for a good one.
