    The nickname of Cayce, Kentucky is , in that era train workers with common surnames were often referred to by their hometown. Hence Jones being from Cayce became "Cayce" Jones which is how he himself spelled it. In letters written by his wife Janie Brady Jones however, it is spelled "Casey" and that is the spelling that took precedence.
