  • 1-24-2017 Go to a library and find the "public speaking" section. There will likely be dozens of books with jokes, quotations, and thoughts specifically chosen as openers for speakers. Here's the trick: turn around and pull a book off another shelf and see what it is. You find the most fascinating stuff that way. I once found a thick report tracing the ancestry of the 12 inch ruler all the way back to the Egyptian pyramids.
