In short, pretty much any monetary transaction involving a cash amount in excess of $10,000USD requires a form to be filled out and placed on file with the Treasury Department. This includes depositing, withdrawing or transferring said money to or from a U.S. bank account, transporting in person or by courier any cash or negotiable instrument in excess of $10k, controlling a foreign bank account worth in excess of $10,000, or receiving a cash payment for goods or services in excess of $10,000.
