This question is best asked of your State Unemployment Office. While I am not familiar with the unemnployement laws in New Jersey, I can tell you the experience of a colleague who was laid off here in Illinois. She did not immediately apply for unemployment, because she was to receive a pension and did not think she was eligible for both. However, the company Benefits Director advised her to apply for unemployment anyway. She did apply, and took in the estimate from the Pension Board of what she would be receiving and submitted it with her application. Soon after she received an Award Letter from the Unemployment Bureau stating that she would receive the maximum amount. So, it is definitely worth checking in to!
