    More important though, is "what was the temperature BEFORE that?". The earliest known maps of the Arctic Circle show no ice...instead it was flowing rivers, green landscapes, etc. Yes, it was much colder a century ago, but weather is cyclic, and we have proof of that. The Earth constantly warms up and cools off. Mankind has nothing to do with global temperatures, and thinking we do is just ignorant.

    The average global temperature in 1880 was approximately 56.8 degrees Fahrenheit (F). In 2005, the average was about 58.3 degrees F. The total increase in global average temperature in that period is nearly 1.5 degrees F.
