Is i t okay to give a cat dog food if you run low on cat food?

    You can try it, but cats aren't that flexible. They're known for being finicky and will probably turn their nose up at it. Better to just go get the cat food. Check the ingredients, cat food is different than dog food.

    Yes in the short term it will do your feline no harm at all. But....felines are fussy and whether the cat will eat it, is another matter. Your best bet is to mash it up a bit because cats don't like dog food sized chunks! You might be better off scouring your fridge for a packet of ham.

    I think it is ok. my cat eats her sister's dog food and vice versa, she is the happiest cat,and she loves it.

    A cat must have a substance called Taurine and this is not found in dogfood. Therefore, it would be unhealthy to feed your cat dog food. Besides if you try and feed it to him he might turn ninja and kick your butt.

    It is fine. It really depends on if your cat is fussy or not. If it's fussy, it'll probably turn its nose up at it & walk away, if it's not fussy it's most likely to eat the dog food. My cat does it all the time.. :)

    well i have a cat(Mr. snuggles) and a dog(Edwin) and snuggles always eats the dogs dry food and he is fine.....so far. so yes i think it is fine for a short period of time :)

    I think it would be ok - dogs love cat food because of the high fat that's in it. But don't be surprised if your kitty has a bit of digestive upset - animals are sensitive to sudden changes in food.

    I believe that some dog food can contain ingredients that are toxic to cats. It probably won't do any harm to replace one meal in an emergency, but it is not a good idea to feed dog food regularly to cats.
