I recently sent my nephew a care package to Afghanistan. Pringles chips, beef jerky, a variety of smoked sausages and some reading material.

Maximum, FHM, or sports illustrated mags. Maybe send snacks like hard candy, DO NOT send chocolate.
New package of socks and oddly baby wipes. One cool thing is Gatorade powder mix. Guys like to put it right into their canteens.

Gold bond powder. It can get up to 130 some days. Helps keep feet fresh.
