had unprotected sex 2 days after my period, took EC, how soon can i take a pregnancy test?

    For the best result, wait until about the time your next period should be a week or less away, and take it in the morning, so that the hormones in your urine won't have been diluted from drinking liquids all day.

    Most at home pregnancy tests are designed to pick up traces of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in about a fortnight (2 weeks/14 days) after conception. Around about that time the level of hCG is high enough for a pregnancy test to detect it.

    A few of the older ones may be as late as 3 weeks, however most likely they have all been updated to detect around 14 days.

    I suggesting getting two different tests and two of each of them. Test at the 14 days mark then test at the 21 day mark. Not all women build up a level of hCG at the same rate, a few will more rapidly reach detectable levels, while a few are a bit slower at it.

    Two different tests will rule out error of the product. Some times a product can not be functioning within nominal parameters thus giving a false negative.

    False positive results can also occur, read the package instructions (a long inserted sheet in micro-print) for all potential risks of false positive readings.
