What does it mean when coyotes yip and howl at night?

    Coyotes are most active at night. That's when they do their moving and hunting. Their yipping and howling is how they talk to each other.

    This is one way they communicate. Howling is also a way for them to locate each other, or when they get excited. If they smell something good you will often hear them howling. I often hear this when I am out coyote hunting.

    I think it mean that there calling to other coyotes saying that they caught a kill and to communicate with each other too..
