I'm the same way. Having something explained is always better then you can be sure you are doing it the correct way (hopefully the person explaining it knows what they are doing). It gives you more confidence. and why "fix" it there is nothing broken.
I'm the same way, I'd rather know how to do it correctly than to do it wrong and have to fix it later. To fix that tendency? You can try to just have more confidence in yourself, but to be honest, it's actually a good trait when not taken to extremes.
I think it is wise to understand things before you do them.
Getting all the facts means you are smart and keeping something from biting you in the butt later on..."Haste makes waste."

Try some initiative. The inspiration to do it is by picturing yourself as being unique.
