Yes, there have been many studies done that confirm this. To read more on this, check out http://envirocancer.cornell.edu/Newsletter/General/v4i3/rc.milk.cfm or type in "breast milk contaminants" in your favorite search engine.

Yes it can. However, so can formula, and formula doesn't have the same protective factors breastmilk contains. http://www.breastfeeding.com/advocacy/advocacy_recalls.html this link is for recalls of formula and why. http://www.breastfeeding.com/reading_room/eco-mama.html This link is for an article on breastfeeding and the environment and makes mention of contaminants in breastmilk and why studies have shown even with the contaminants breastmilk is still safer than baby formula.

Yes! And almost as half as much as formula!!

Yes, human breast milk may contain harmful artificial chemicals. The same is true of cow's milk (and any mammalian milk, including whale's milk, but I assume you're most interested in milks that humans consume). Of great concern are not just agricultural chemicals showing up in cow's milk (from fertilizers, etc.) but also chemicals meant to benefit the cows which aren't good for humans (and probably not for calves, either): antibiotics and synthetic hormones (artificial hormones). You've already been given good instructions on how to find the research on this -- I just wanted to add the point above, and to mention that breast milk also contains chemicals that are not necessarily harmful. For instance, eating garlic will change the taste of a woman's breast milk. Hope this helps... :)

Of course. Some genius downrated this question. If we injest foods with harmful chemicals, it will go right to the breast milk.
