He might have worms.
He may be getting clumping litter stuck to his butt. Have you been able to see if he has litter cling-ons before he starts scooting? It may be worth it to switch to a different type of litter for a few days and see if this takes care of it.
That is usually a sign of having either worms or impacted/infected anal glands. According to our new vet, it can also be a sign of inflammation of the skin and anal glands due to fleas. Whichever cause it proves to be, its time for a trip to the vet.
He's just being silly
It may be worms or impacted anal glands. This is a vet visit for sure!
We have a cat that does that because she is too fat to clean herself.
Other reasons: itchy, or just find it less icky than the traditional cleaning method.
As ice man said, how long since he/she was wormed?
he has an itchy butt, possibly from worms, take his stools to a vet and have it checked for worms.

You're reading after my cat comes out of the litter box he drags his butt across the floor. I thought its his food, but its same wet or dry. Whats wrong?
