IMO, neither the Israeli leaders nor the Palestinian leaders have any intention of making peace. It seems to be traditional for semites (both Hebrews and Arabs) to nurture resentment for centuries. I think it's an ancient tribal custom. It's their version of the
Hatfields and McCoys.

On a related note, as long as the U.S. and Britain continue to favor and support one side, providing enormous sums of money and military weapons, the other side will continue to attack the U.S. and Britain. It's not a mystery. The more money and weapons we provide Israel, the more we help them avoid any attempt to make peace.

There are extremists in all countries - including yours and mine, but that doesn't mean that the extremists express the views of the (unfortunately normally silent) majority.

See the real fanatic extreemists! Its not muslims its jews! And that is documented several times in their radicalism for examble the american documentary movie maker who went to 7 muslim countries in a some legendary trip to meet muslim extreemists he talked to several muslims with bears in several muslim countreis no one of them have insulted him like the extreem jews when he go to israel, they attacked him! As he is not a jew so he has no right to be in this place although he is an american and his country is the one that support israel by weapons ,diplomatic ,money... etc he was attacked and even they didnt allow him to leave exept after the israeli police interfered to save the american-israeli diplomatic relations and to save the face of israel aganist the world and those jews saied to their police that this man is not a jew so he has no right to be here! Imagin what happine to arabs there!
And as to the so called yusuf it is not weird to hear something like that from a person like that i mean after all he is eastern jew ,in fact a jew from an arab iraqi origin like his brothers of arab or eastern origins have to prove all over the time to the israeli officials that they hate arabs like the westerner jews do and even more to prove their loyality to israel!

It shouldn't affect the peace talks. There are fanatics on both sides, and it takes outstanding leadership to bring the parties to a workable solution.

- NO. But the killing will not escalate if they start thinking that way on both sides, and no aggression or terror would reign.
  But I guess, I'm not very realistic, right?
  The Israeli intelligence view says there can only be security through winning the war against the enemy if the winner is benevolent enough; then, there would be peace.
  It's a David vs. Goliath thing - Israel, a very small nation surrounded by many bigger enemies has to survive against all odds. And God is on their side, or so they seem to think as always.

- Sanctions might do the trick. They are performing a sort of apartheid after all. Perhaps without the extra funds from the Christian Fundamentalists etc, they might just consider trying to hold onto what they have intead of creating more settlements.

- Sadly, our Christian right will never consent to leaving Israel alone. It's some kind of religious thing.
  
  My view? Israel is our "ally" b/c we give them $billions in welfare (foreign aid) every year. Dubya committed to giving them $3 billion per year for the next 10 years, and Obama is afraid to make any changes to it. He seems to think that if he appeases (sucks up to) the right, they'll be nice to him and stop voting against every bill in Congress.
  
  Israel uses the welfare we give them to bomb their neighbors, using the advanced weaponry supplied by the U.S.:
  
  "Israel's war and siege on the Gaza Strip would not be possible without the jets, helicopters, ships, missiles, and fuel provided by the United States."
  
  When Israel "retaliates" against a clumsy, homemade rocket fired by a crazed Hezbollah miscreant they use 1000x more force than necessary to make their point. This is the result.
  
  The attacks of 9-11 were the result of our unconditional support of Israel. We (the U.S. and Great Britain) help Israel keep the middle-East hostilities alive and boiling. If not for our aid, Israel would have no choice but to make peace with their neighbors. Because of the welfare we provide, they don't have to.

- Quite right. I was partially agreeing with you, except that I think sanctions against Israel are too extreme and would never pass Congress or the White House.
  
  Also mostly agreeing with waboo's last comment.
  
  A big part of the problem (U.S. supporting Israel) is that many Americans believe that Israel is always an innocent victim. That's what they want us to believe. They've been milking the Holocaust for 60 years. It's time to give it up. You can't play the eternal victim and expect others to believe it forever.
