    Asker's Pick

    Selected by the asker, Charlie is a girl. (What's this?)

    Holidays are an excuse to get off work, to shop, and to spend time with family. If you are atheist, but put up a Christmas tree every year, it's still probably tradition in your family. In China, where a large percentage of the population is atheist or Buddhist, still celebrate Christmas, but unlike much of the western world, all store are open on Christmas. It is their biggest excuse to spend money.

    considering the fact that all christian holidays are stolen , copied , PAGAN holidays or an invented holiday placed on the same day to overshadow and discredit a pagan holiday. the question should be ;
    How many thiests celebrate the holidays ? and why ?
    xmas , easter , halloween , valentines day etc etc etc .. are all pagan holidays .
    the church just copied , reinvented them , gave them a "christian " flare to try and compete with and overshadow them .

    The same was as most Christians do I guess - we all celebrate the pagan festivals happily without really thinking much about the fertility symbolism inherent in them.

    I celebrate Christmas and Easter, although I think of them as the vernal equinox and the winter solstice.

    Atheists believe in lucking out so whatever optimizes their chances in any pursuit..free reign to do whatever you feel like without getting caught
    by others but non atheists believe in devine intervention and luck has no play in any way what with God's eyes always on you judging what you do.
