    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

The exact number of pyramids built by the Mayans is unknown. Many Mayan sites remain unexcavated, and others have been damaged or destroyed. Major extant pyramid sites include Acanceh, Calakmul, Caracol, Chichen Itza, Coba, Copan, Ek Balam, El Mirador, Izamal, Mayapan, Oxkintok, Tazaumal, Tikal and Uxmal.
