  • If they weren't, then I'd be long gone.
  • I don't think so. They should be censored like you did in your question with the (*). If people use these words to express how they feel, then they better get other english words, because people might find these inappropiate and insulting.
  • i dont have a problem with swearing and sometimes it the only way some people(like me) can get their point across.
  • I don't see why not. "swear words" are only words that people consider to be bad, but it's not really the word that you say, rather the meaning behind it that you intend. If someone is saying something truly offensive, he or she will be downrated and possibly flagged.
  • I think that they should be an auto filter to make such words into symbols rather than words. It shouldn't be that hard. People would slowly get the idea, then, that there is no point swearing as it doesn't get through the filter, and it would still allow the good parts (if there are any) of the answer/question to be retained.
  • Questions shouldn't be removed solely on the basis of profanity, because there *Is* some tasteful and/or necessary use of profanity in questions. What needs to be done is there needs to be a disclaimer added to the question submit page (Or some other easily accessible area of the site.) saying "Profane questions will be censored, if you must use profanity, please use good sense in censoring it yourself, or it will be censored for you." Or something along those lines. So that way people who may need to use tasteful profanity to make their point can use the * trick for self-censorship. And those who choose not to can be removed.
  • No I do not think that should be allowed at all -It lowers the purpose of Answerbag
  • I think its a personal choice. Personally, I don't know any of you and do not want to offend. Also, there are many minors on this site. If I feel the need to make a point, the 'sh*t' works just fine for me, showing a little restraint.
  • It depends on the context.
  • You are advocating censorship, and that is *always* bad.
  • I don't really think it's that terrible.. The thing with curses like those is that they're a bit like symbols.. they only have as much power as we give them, so instead of complaining about them, just forget that they're bad words and relax, it works for me :)
