    Asker's Pick

Selected by the asker, Sally-Rae. (What's this?)

Bernard Cornwell's trilogy - (The Winter King, Enemy of God, Excalibur) is excellent; but I'd also recommend a movie - John Boornman's excellent 'Excalibur', - most movies on the subject are pretty bad but Excalibur is epic, the music score by Wagner really adds to it and has some good performances from Helen Mirren, Gabriel Byrne, Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart (Jean Luc Picard) and many other notable future stars. Same director that did Point Blank and Deliverance.

I bought a wonderful leatherbound book called King Arthur and His Knights by Sir James Knowles when I was a kid - wonderful illustrations and oil painted canvasses copied onto some pages and the text is filled with prithee, thou, thee, thine, foreasmuch and other archaic language
